Alma Center-Humbird-Merrillan4We are a junior/senior high school building, and expectations are consistent at both levels.Considering student equity, the school board voted to adopt PASS/FAIL grading for Q3, Q4, and S2. High school students in any online, distance learning, or college classes that will receive a traditional letter grade from the institution they are working with will have that converted to a PASS/FAIL grade for their high school report card. This means that all students will carry the same GPA from the end of S1 into the beginning of next school year. Teachers will continue to enter and grade student work in Skyward, and at the end of the grading period, a PASS/FAIL grade will be recorded on the report card.99% of students have access to virtual materials through Google Classroom; however, the speed of Internet connection and availability to this on a daily basis, as well as family situations, differs from student to student. Teachers need to have materials posted for each class by 8:00 AM Monday with work for the entire week, which should be approximately 1.5-2 hours per class (we have an 8 hour day). Teachers are focusing on the remaining essential learning outcomes through asynchronous learning while using Google Hangouts and Meets to provide individual and small-group instruction. Advisory groups are meeting each week for an optional check-in, but we have had high levels of engagement. I am holding a weekly Lunch with the Principal meeting at both the junior high and high school levels, and staff members are also invited to join. We are meeting weekly as a whole staff, and some PLC teams have chosen to meet weekly as well.

Teachers are expected to give 1-2 hours of work per week for each class. Grades will be counted at the option of the student. The last week of May students will choose to have a pass-fail grade which will not impact GPA or their letter grade count. This is done to honor both the student who has a less than ideal home learning environment or has to work or provide child care, while also honoring the students who have worked hard to maintain good grades.

Teachers are using paper/pencil, IXL, iReady, Zoom for skill practice, no gradesIXL, completion checklist, zoom, specific skills are being reviewed, no gradesQ3 plus Q4 (Pass/Incomplete) will equal the Sem 2 (Pass/Incompete). Students will have the choice to complete the work or take the F. Staff have identified 3 essential learning targets for the remained of the year. Feedback is priority over grades.

Arrowhead Union High School1n/an/aArrowhead High School will be continuing with letter grades for second semester .Teachers are working very hard to provide instruction via Canvas and conferencing tools. Teachers are prioritizing curriculum learning targets and standards, while working flexibly with students to complete the necessary work and assessments. We have counselors and Associate Principals following up with any student who is disengaged for a long period of time. We are also offering virtual tutoring support for math. We are teaching online M/T/Th/Fri with Wednesday being a prep, collaboration and grading day for teachers. We will continue to have discussions regarding culminating assessments/final exams. We also continue to have discussions of needed curriculum revisions for the start of 21-22.

Athens9Reviewing options at this time- perhaps a hybrid of normal grading with Pass/Fail. Looking at including parents and students in the grading options based on various circumstances.Exploring Credit-No-Credit, Pass/Fail options. We want to honor the hard work kids are putting in while respecting that others may not have the resources at hoome (parent support- Internet access-etc.) Exploring Credit-No-Credit, Pass/Fail options. Allowing high achieving students to decide whether they'd like a letter grade or simply pass/fail. We want to honor the hard work kids are putting in while respecting that others may not have the resources at hoome (parent support- Internet access-etc.) In- progress at this time. Teachers have been reminded to be "FLEXIBLE" with their grading as it will vary from student to student depending on their situations. Our IT person has been a great resouce for pushing out notifications and resources to families. Teacher continue to connect with kids on Google Classrooms, emails, other online platforms, handouts, etc. Upper Elementary through HS teachers have found success with Google Hangouts Meet as a way to connect with kids face-to-face virtually. Students enjoy seeing and talking to their teachers and classmates and have reported easier learning when the teacher is in front of them. Parents also like when teachers can "chat" with the students. AREAS OF CONCERN: connecting with our students with Special Needs and others without support systems in place. Teachers that are teaching their own children while trying to teach our students. We continue to look for some kind of balance.

Belleville2BMS and BHS letter to parentsBased on essential skills for grade level progression. Focus on standards and prioritize Learning Targets. Provide feedback on student learning. For almost all of our classes at the middleschool, we have had grades accumulating since January 21 and had almost one mid-term "in the books" before the closure. When we met with staff on Monday (3-23), they were comfortable with what we outlined so that those grades continue to solidify: Teachers will enter at least one assignment per class per week into Skyward. Depending on our return date, this should provide enough evidence to post a final grade for the second semester. Without face-to-face contact, teachers should provide individual feedback through Google Classroom. For all of our classes at the high school, we have had grades accumulating since January 21 and had almost one mid-term "in the books" before the closure. Berlin Area School District64K-2 teachers are providing printed materials for families in addition to some online activities. 3-5 are using our district "weekly learning plan" template and Google Meet to meet with students. Students also use iReady Reading and Math for online personalized and teacher-assigned lessons. Middle school teachers are using the district "weekly learning plan" template to communicate assignments for each course. Homeroom teachers check in with their homeroom students at least 1 time per week. Teachers are entering upcoming assignments into PowerSchool to keep some consistency with how we communimcate work and outcomes. Teachers are using the status codes of "collected, missing or incomplete" to help communicate each assignment. Many high school classes are utilizing Odysseyware for online content in addition to their LMS platforms. Discussions are in progress about pass/fail versus letter grades for high school courses and graduation credits.

Black River FallsAt the elementary level, we are providing a mixture of paper and e-learning options for students. We are collecting the completed material as we hand out the next set. Our plans are to give feedback on particular pieces of work that may be more aligned to our guarantees. We are not grading the materials. Some upper elementary teachers are having student submit completed materials back to them electronically.Started e-learning on 3/20. Continuing our A/B schedule. Expectation for students to engage approx 40 min per block per school day. Teachers are available for email/Google Meet between 10:00 - 3:00. Admin his holding open Q&A on Google Meet (recorded) daily from 2:00 - 3:00 for teachers. All regular ed work expected to be delivered and submitted trhough Canvas. Assisting families with limited connectivity. Semester II courses will be graded on a pass-fail. We have asked teachers (some of whom have been transitioning to SBG to continuously assess and providing feedback; in fact to increase the feedback and decrease the quantity of assignments, etc. We are giving them the flexibility to grade using our normal grading scale, or using a 4 point Standards-based scale. In our LMS (Canvas) we still have letter grades showing, but when we post the final semester grades to Skyward for their transcript, anything 60% or above (or 3 or above on SBG) will be changed to “Pass” and students will receive credit. Cumulative GPA will not change from what it currently is.

Blair-Taylor4At the elementatary level, we are providing hard copies of home based educational activities in all content areas and grade levels. We are not grading during this time due lack of information to truly determine proficiency. So much of the assessment piece is determined by formal observation, informal observation, and teacher/student interaction. Upper elementary (3-6) are using Google Classroom along with hard copies. Teachers used the last two days before students began learning from home to prepare students to learn more exclusively from an online platform. Many of the teachers already had their classes set up on Google Classroom to allow for a combination of online and in person learning opportunities. Through collaboration between regular education and special education staff, along with solid communication with parents, we established the support needed and expectations for continued learning on the most essential outcomes for each class. Students without internet access are provided with paper copies of work. Homeroom teachers take "attendance" daily to check on the social & emotional health of their students via email, Google Classroom or phone. We have discussed the options of pass/incomplete vs. letter grades. Cameron High School11Teachers are sending out learning opportunities on a weekly basis for their classes. Hard copies of activities are being made and students are able to stop in on Wednesdays and pick them up, or we deliver them to the student homes. Many teachers are meeting weekly with students through google meet or zoom. Students will receive a pass grade for third trimester and awarded credit to keep them on pace credit wise for graduation and to move on to their next courses for the 2020-21 school year. The learning opportunities will focus on essential standards for courses.Things have been going well. We are stressing to families and staff that the learning opportunities are just that - opportunities for kids to continue learning and that things are not graded. We want to do our best to continue learning for students without adding unneccessary stress to families during this time.

Cedar Grove-Belgium7We are continuing with our current grading policies for now. We will not be using zeros for missing work, but will change grades to incomplete when a student needs to complete work. We will analyze grades after the three, four, and five week marks to look at the possibility of doing pass/incomplete. We are trying to avoid fail at all costs. Teachers post in Google Classroom with assignments, meetings, etc. and students need to check in on these each day that the class is scheduled. We have finished and posted our Quarter 3 grades. Any F's will be assessed and we will look at needs. If possible, we will connect with students that had F's to meet standards that were not met. Our engagement is 80-90% and we are having success with most students. We have students that are not engaging and are struggling for answers for these students.

Deep Creek Middle School The expectation is learning does not stop. I set up an LMS using Google Classroom then lead PD for all of my teachers on how to use the LMS with Loom and Zoom to set up Flipped Classes. Students have scheduled live classes; however, teachers can choose to use their class time for instruction or class discussions. Grades are being recorded but additional time is granted to all students to complete assignments. Teachers are in constant contact with students and parents to provide support using WhatsApp and emails outside of the scheduled class times. We are waiting to hear from the Ministry of Education for directions on BJC testing. Students need BJC's to graduate.
31
DeForest Area School District2We asked teachers to give students their 3rd quarter grade based on the 7 weeks of work they did during face-to-face instruction. We then allowed students to have until May 1 (which is also flexible) to raise that grade if they wanted based on work on standards that they didn't do well on in the 3rd quarter. The fourth quarter grade was a non-count engagement grade that we posted every 2 weeks based on student engagement with virtual learning. Teachers gave all academic feedback for 4th quarter in Google Classroom only. The semester grade was then equivalent to the 3rd quarter grade that students had the opportunity to improve. The 4th quarter engagement grade may raise or lower the semester grade by up to 1 grade from the 3rd quarter grade.

Denmark7Early Childhood will focus on maintenance with enhancement opportunities for at home learning in accordance with DPI's recommended minutes. We encourage parents to share artifacts of student learning every week, and are providing virtual Guided Reading for our Title I students for those parents that are able to schedule time and have appropriate resources. We will continue with grading. Pass/Fail will be considered if we learn that grading is not being effective. Teachers have been communicating with students via Google Classroom, email, and other platforms teachers had established prior to the shut down. Currently we are trying to wrap up Term 3 using grading. Teachers are reporting that with the dealine of Term 3 ending students engagement or activity online has improved greatly. Right now teachers are reporting a 60% engagement / participation rate with their students. We surveyed 100% of all parents at DHS and 96% indicated they have Internet and they felt their children could function in the virtual world.

Dodgeville3Letter to Parents for all levelsCurrent Idea (not approved yet): At the High School Level teachers will have two options for grading at the secondary level: A,B,C,D, Incomplete or Pass/Incomplete. Audits will be available with teacher/administration approval. Talk to your teacher about individual concerns and then contact your principal. All grading may be excluded from class rank and final GPA counts.

Durand Middle/High School11We are moving forward with e-learning with odd/even classes meeting every other day. Teacher are to focus on essential standards, keeping instruction to 20 minutes or less per class per meeting. We will continue with letter grades and are considering a P/F option during the last week in session hoping that letter grades will help maintain motivation. Same as the Middle School. We have looked at all senior transcripts and may allow seniors to drop classes they do not need for graduation. This will be considered after we are further into the process to determine if they are maintaining academics in this new environment.Student participation in e-learning is 95-97%. Students not checking in are same students who struggled prior to COVID. Staff PD has been incredible, with assistance coming from all levels. We planned e-learning in fall to offset snow days, and it has paid off big time for this situation. Required Zoom PLC meetings weekly with administrators participating so teachers can keep an eye on each other with the isolation.Providing meals to students either through drive up or by delivery along bus routes. Over 500 meals (breakfast/lunch) delivered daily. Any packets that need to be picked up or dropped off are using the same method. We have canceled all events (concerts, musical, etc.) except Prom and Graduation. Prom rescheduled to end of June. Graduation not rescheduled at this time. Final exams for 2nd Semester are canceled. Considering ending year early and bringing staff and students in for 2-week summer school in late July.

Edgerton2We are not grading at the elementary. We are focusing on literacy and math, providing engaging activities and ensuring students have a solid foundation for the next grade level. We are not grading at the middle school unless a student is taking a high school course for credit. We are focusing on literacy and math and ensuring students have a solid foundation for the next grade level. High School is grading as they normally would (Letter Grades). A students grade cannot be lowered from where it was on March 13th unless they do absolutely nothing and then there has to be evidence of communication (multiple times) along with keeping the Building Principal informed. Timely feedback emphasized as only feedback moving forward. All parents notified. All encore classes provide activities on weekly choice board, available to all 6-8 students. No grades. This will be pending School Board approval Monday, April 6th, not announced to parents and students until after board meeting. We will be proposing a P/NP grading system. We have some courses that are Dual-credit that will continue with grades, but those are limited in #. We will maintain records for the ability to translate to a grade if so required by NCAA for those very few students that would be impacted. Staff will be utlizing their essential learnings/standards for each course. Students that reach a minimum proficiency will be granted a P grade. NP will indicate students have material to complete or did not reach the minimum proficiency of the class. Essentially this will be the equivalent of an incomplete.

We continue to work to engage students that aren't meeting participation expecations when needed. In Freedom, students were issued a letter grade for Term 3. The grade when they left could not go down for third quarter, but it could be improved. For term 4, it will be pass/fail. Students will earn credits toward graduation but not calculated in GPA. One exception will be CAPP classes offered through UW Oshkosh, which will require a letter grade.

La Crosse School District We went ahead and graded for Q3 and sent report cards out on 4/1. For 4th quarter report cards, we identified the standards in Reading, Writing, Math and Content that were essential (25%) and will document on the report card that we addressed those standards through Remote Learning but we won't attach a grade to them. With respect to Remote Learning, we are focusing on connecting online with students (wifi and devices are an issues) and are using mailed packets to deliver materials 4K-grade 3 every two weeks. These though are ungraded. Grade 4-5 is being delivered online and teachers will be able to provide feedback. Teachers are focusing on priority learning targets per content area emphasizing the power of experimentation - trial and error. Students will be empowered to lead instruciton when applicable engaging the teacher as the guide on the side. The measurement of learning will be in the form of qualitative and/or quantitative feedback to determine the proficiency level for each student and each learning standard. New learning is combined with prior learning. Learning will be honored when it occurs. In other words, students may re-do and re-take assignments and assessments until proficiency levels are met. Grade reports will result in PASS / INCOMPLETE "NOT YET". Theoretically, it will be difficult for a student to earn an INCOMPLETE. An INCOMPLETE is intended to represent the student who is unabe or unwilling to connect with teacher(s) in this remote learning paradigm. Efforts are underway to provide interventions for the anticipated gaps some students will develop as a result of our school closure. No final exams will be given. Instruction will be delivered in an asynchronous manner to provide the most flexible learning platform possible to meet the needs of our diverse student and educator populations. Teachers are focusing on priority learning targets per content area emphasizing the "must know" content as compared to the "nice to know" content. Students will be empowered to lead instruction when applicable - engaging the teacher as the guide on the side. The measurement of learning will be in the form of qualitative and/or quantitative feedback to determine proficiency level for each student and each standard. Students may re-do and re-take assignments and assessments until proficiency levels are met. Grade reports will result in PASS / INCOMPLETE "NOT YET" as the final semester grade. No third quarter grades will be entered; however, the culmination of learning leading to the final outcome of PASS / INCOMPLETE will include third quarter achievement. GPAs wil be frozen as of the completion of semester one of the 2019-20 school year. Exceptions to this guidance may include, but are not limited to: AP courses and college level coursework that are contingent upon college board determinations. Theoretically, it will be difficult for a student to earn an INCOMPLETE. An INCOMPLEE is intended to represent the student who is unable or unwilling to connect with teacher(s) in this remote learning paradigm. Efforts are underway to provide interventions for the anticipated gaps and recovery courses that may be necessary to realign high school students toward graduation requirements as a result of this school closure. No final exams will be given - unless otherwise required by college board determinations. Instruction will be delivered in an asynchronous manner to provide the most flexibel learning platform possible to meet the needs of our diverse student and educator populations. Decisions are pending with regard to our senior class of 2020. Our emphasis will be to provide as many opportunities for credit recovery as reasonably possible for students who may be credit deficient as a result of this remote learning paradigm.

LomiraContinue with letter grading. Staff decision. Everyone feels comfortable with our communication, specified learning targets from now until the end of the year and digital abilities. Weekly surverys to parents and students support this decision and show that we have necessary technology to all high school students. One virtual class meeting per week is required per course in addition to the daily lessons, work, assessments, etc. Using "go formative" for many assessments to try to maintain academic integrity in our most challenging courses. Final exams scheduled but a week earlier - planning to wrap up before Memorial Day with final assessments.

All coursework is done in Google Classroom. 4th quarter report card will not have grades, but will contain progress checks on how students are progressing in the work and if they are participating in Blackboard sessions. All of our students have Chromebooks, but not all of our students have reliable internet. Therefore we instituted a no harm policy. We left Quarter 3 open and students have opportunities to improve their grade by completing assignments and projects. The 3rd Quarter grade will become a Semester 2 grade.

Melrose-Mindoro School District4We are on trimesters and just concluded our 2nd trimester. At this time, we are sending home packets/materials for students to navigate the essentials of our curriculum to those in need of paper copies. Based on survey results, parent contacts, etc. we have determined which families would need paper versus electronic format for assignments. Each week we are getting feedback from parents and adjusting our workload expectations based on their insight. We are considering a Pass/No Pass system. We have been using virtual learning since March 17th for most using Chromebooks 1 to 1. Being a rural district, many students have no or unreliable internet and therefore must rely on paper copies of work. We deliver paper copies of materials every Wednesday using our bus routes but do not collect any material back at this time. We are considering a Pass/No Pass system. Neillsville10We are using email, Google Classroom, Seesaw, school website and our Facebook page to communicate with parents and children. Grades 4 and 5 do have Chromebooks, so tasks are given via email and Google Classroom. We are not worried about grading. Teachers are just giving essential tasks to the students to prepare them for the next grade level. However, these tasks do not have to be completed because we recognize that our families are going through a stressful time; and we don't want to add more stress to their lives. What the elementary school is focused on is making connections with these students. Communicating with them at least once per week is required. This is to stay connected and to check on their well-being. We also have been using our Facebook page to advertise virtual school spirit weeks. This also keeps families and the school connected during this stressful time. In addition, our school is delivering meals, Monday through Friday, to families with children ages 0 to 18 years old. It is during these deliveries that hard copies of tasks from teachers are delivered to families that do not have internet access. For students: We have moved to a P/F for the 2nd semester. We've had teachers teaching from a distance since March 18. We are utilizing Google Classroom/Hangout/Meet, Zoom, Loom, direct phone calls and any other means to reach, teach, and connect with students. Students all have a school issued chromebook and most have internet access outside of school. We are delivering materials to them using technology, on food service deliveries, mail, and in rare cases pick up at school. We are asking students to participate in a weekly virtual homeroom on Monday's with either their career or academic advisor to touch base, troubleshoot, and just connect with people! We've moved to a daily schedule each week where departments will deliver information/work to their students: Monday -ELA, Tuesday - Math, Wed. - Science, Thur. - Social Studies, and Fri. - all other areas. We hope this will ease the stress on everybody with the amount of electornic communications taking place. With that, we are asking students to do 1-2 shortened things relating to the the ELTs for the course. For staff: we are asking them to keep a daily work log. They are to work 20-40 hours/week in the areas of communication with students/parents, curriculum review and development, and/or professional development. The admin is being very understanding and flexible, with staff and students, during this time given the stressors many are under. Teachers also have "office hours" each day for 2-hours where they must be accessible to respond and contact students/parents with questions, concerns, feedback, etc.

There will be flexibility should you need additional time, but please do your best to adhere to this date.Same as ElementaryGrading for these grade levels is a little more complex.
