Description updated to reflect updates to the progress of our mission

March Fourth is a nonprofit advocacy group with a singular mission: to federally ban assault weapons. The organization is non-partisan, as its members are unified on the human issue of keeping Americans safe. Weapons of war simply shouldn’t be accessed by civilians. We will accomplish this mission by using our voices to drive change and by showing our leaders that it’s time to put people over politics.

Firearm-related injury has surpassed accidents as the leading cause of death of children in the United States. The Federal Assault Weapon Ban, from 1994 to 2004, reduced fatalities due to mass shootings by 70%. As physicians and members of the medical community, it is our duty to combat preventable illness and develop a treatment plan for meaningful change. The time is now to reinstate the federal ban. We hope to gain support to pass S.25 and HR.698 which would federally ban the sale and manufacturing of assault weapons and high capacity magazines in the United States.

We stand united in the medical community that the increasing incidence of mass shootings is a public health crisis. We have scientific data and first hand patient experience to verify that these weapons have the potential to kill as many people as possible in the shortest amount of time. Health care workers across the country demand change now.
