Speaker's Task Force on Adoption

Hello, and welcome to the website for the Speaker's Task Force on Adoption. Here you can stay up to date on the committee's activities and progress as well as submit your insights on the adoption process in our state.

The Speaker's Task Force on Adoption has been created to gather information and make policy recommendations and will focus on addressing the barriers facing biological and adoptive parents in the adoption process. It is our goal to listen to a diverse a group of stakeholders so that we can include all perspectives as we move forward. We encourage you to attend one of our hearings and share your input.

In order to give everyone an opportunity to share their thoughts and suggestions with the task force members, we will be holding meetings in various locations around the state. You can find the hearing notices on the website or on Chairperson Dittrich's website.

To structure our discussion, the Speaker has given us specific areas to focus on. These include termination of parental rights, a shortened timeline for adoptions, understanding costs associated with adoption/finding ways to reduce costs, and increasing awareness about adoption/providing resources relating to adoption.

Thank you to Speaker Vos for allowing us this opportunity to dig deeper into this important issue. We look forward to a constructive, bipartisan discussion that leads to productive policy recommendations. Please do not hesitate to contact my office with any questions or comments. We look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
