Gale DBs => Issue with Translation Tool

Hi,

As you probably know, you can use the translation tool within Gale to translate articles into many different languages. Gale contracts with a third party for that service, and currently there are issues. Some languages translate like expected, and other languages get stuck, and the translation never appears. [Does that mean the article is lost in translation? ;-)] This also affects the translation ability tied to the listen tool. If I hear from Gale that all has been fixed, I’ll let you know.

In the meantime, one option is to save an article to Google Drive and then use Google’s translation option, which is found under Tools in the toolbar at the top of a Google document. Or better yet -- according to Miranda Doyle, district librarian for Lake Oswego School District -- add the Google Translate Chrome extension and use it to translate an entire article or selected parts of it. She recommends the extension rather than Google's built-in translation feature because the extension also has audio for some languages, and it translates words/sentences/paragraphs as needed.

Thanks,
Jen
