Honda is getting ready for the next generation of its popular Odyssey minivan.

Production on the 2018 model - which was redesigned and unveiled earlier this year - will begin Tuesday. The company is planning a start-up celebration for employees that day.

Work on the previous edition ended last week.

Earlier this year at the North American Auto Trade Show, Honda unveiled the new version of the Odyssey. Honda President Takahiro Hachigo said the new Odyssey was "created to make every member of the family happy."

The new Odyssey was designed with several features to minimize cabin noise and allow for convenience with families sitting in three rows of seating. The minivan features "magic slide" seats which adjust front and back and side-to-side.

It also has an internal mic and camera system allowing the driver to communicate with passengers and look in on them, as would a parent with children.

The Odyssey is available in two transmissions - a nine-speed and 10-speed automatic. The company has reportedly invested about $150 million in production of the 10-speed automatic system at plants in Georgia and Ohio.

The Odyssey has a heated and ventilated front seat, hands-free power liftgate, wireless device charging and in-car Wifi, as well as stain-resistant leather.
