Wong Kim Ark and Birthright Citizenship:
Documentary Screening and Panel Discussion

The Hogan Lovells Asian Pacific American Affinity Group and co-sponsor APABA-DC invite you to a screening of “14,” an hour-long documentary on the landmark case regarding birthright citizenship, United States v. Wong Kim Ark. After the documentary screening, there will be a panel discussion with Neal Katyal of Hogan Lovells, John Yang of Asian Americans Advancing Justice, and Karen Narasaki of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.

14” delves into high-profile cases on birthright citizenship, including that of Wong Kim Ark, the 1898 U.S. Supreme Court case holding that the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution automatically confers U.S. citizenship upon any person born in the United States, including children of foreigners.

The panel will discuss the legal and social impact of these seminal cases in light of recent discourse surrounding immigration and citizenship. Reception with hors d’oeuvres and drinks to follow.

If you have any questions for the panelists, please feel free to submit them when you register here.

We look forward to seeing you!
