Roger Jahnke, OMD, Co-Founder/Emeritus Board Member

Roger Jahnke is a Doctor of Traditional Chinese medicine with over forty years of experience in clinical practice, teaching, speaking and writing. More importantly, he is a health systems futurist intent upon integrating research-based self-healing modalities into Western medical and health care practice. His goal is to promote the most overlooked source of health maintenance and rejuvenation - the power of each individual to master the self-healing potential of the human body using mind-body practices.

To this end, he formed a for-profit company, Health Action, Inc. in 1980 to provide coaching and workshops for individuals and professionals in corporations, social service agencies, hospitals, and professional organizations. He has consulted on Complementary and Integrative Medicine (CAM/IM), wellness and medical cost reduction.

He established the Integral Institute of Qigong and Tai Chi (IIQTC) in 1985 to serve as the training and certification arm of his Healer Within brand under which he has merged principles and methods borrowed from ancient Chinese master healers. The goal is to train thousands of teachers who will then teach millions of people throughout the world how to tap into their inherent self-healing powers.

In 2002 Roger formed the 501(c)(3) Healer Within Foundation in association with his wife Rebecca McLean to disseminate these practices broadly to those without resources to pay for training, but who may be in most need of this knowledge. Today the foundation and IIQTC are collaborating to disseminate the practices worldwide.

Roger is the author of The Healer Within (Harper Collins, 1999) and The Healing Promise of Qi (McGraw-Hill, 2002), as well as editor and translator of the clinical chapters for Chinese Medical Qigong (Jessica Kingsley Publishers, 2010), the first English translation of the only official textbook of medical Qigong used in colleges and universities of Traditional Chinese medicine in China. He also compiled a comprehensive review of the evidence base of the health benefits of Tai Chi and Qigong which was published in the American Journal of Health Promotion July/August 2010, Vol. 24, No. 6. in collaboration with Arizona State University and the University of Arizona.
